During recent ‘Student Voice’ feedback students felt that they wanted a greater sense of belonging to their tutor group and their House. They wanted to feel that their House had a strong sense of identity, and that there should be more competitions other than the current sports related ones.

With this in mind Heads and Assistants Heads of House set about getting feedback from their students on what it meant to be a part of their individual House communities. This information was used to create a unique set of characteristics for each house, including House Heroes, a House Song and House Ethos as well as a House Slogan.

Alongside this Mrs Elliott has developed a weekly programme of House Challenges, representing a range of aspects of school life, including Academic, Arts, Citizenship & Sports – each with their own end of year shield.

Points from these challenges and competitions, as well as Charity Week and day to day House points, will contribute not only to the individual Academic Shield, Arts Shield, Citizenship Shield and Sports Shields, but to the overall House Championship Cup, which is celebrated at the end of the year.

House Challenges 2025

The full programme of House Challenges is below – entry and rules of engagement are discussed each week during Tutor Time and in House Assembly.

Whilst we endeavour to stick to the plan, the House Challenge programme is subject to change, please speak with your Head of House for the most current information.
