Pupil Premium is a government fund provided to the school, in addition to main school funding, which the government has implemented to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers.

The Pupil Premium is allocated to children that currently qualify for, or have in the last six years qualified for free school meals, children who have been looked after or adopted from care and also pupils with a parent in the forces (either currently or in the last 4 years).

Did you know that just registering your son/daughter for Free School Meals also entitles you to funding for Extra Curricular Activities and could open up additional learning and activity opportunities for your child(ren)?

To see if you are eligible for free school meals, please use the following link:

If you are, North Somerset will contact the school directly.  This could also mean that you can access support for your child’s academic progress through the Pupil Premium Grant.

In the past, the Local Authority has required families, eligible for free school meals, to apply on a termly basis. This is no longer the case.

If your child is eligible for free school meals, they’ll remain eligible until they finish the phase of schooling (primary or secondary) they’re in on 31 March 2023.

Free school meals are applied for via North Somerset Council below:

Parents/carers will be able to apply online for free school meals (for each child separately) and will be able obtain an instant result. The new online system will generate a letter that parents/carers must print off and give to schools to show eligibility, alternatively parents/carers may choose to forward the letter to the school via email.

If you have any queries or require any assistance in making the online application or do not have access to the internet please contact Reception or email Mrs S Rutty. Contact details are available in the Staff Contact Directory below:
