Curriculum Music
Our Vision: To inspire and enable students through listening, composing and performing music. To provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for their life long appreciation of, or participation with Music.
Year 7:
Year 7s have 2 music lessons a fortnight. The units of work are: Medieval music, Chinese music, African music, Form & Music, Folk Music and Orchestral Instruments. Our aim is to give them a good foundation of music through Listening, Performing and composing.
Year 8:
Year 8s have 2 music lessons a fortnight. The units of work are: Musicals, Cuban Music, Classical Music, Theme & Variations, The Blues & Music & The Media. Our aim is to build on their musical skills through Listening, Performing & Composing Music.
Year 9:
Year 9s have 2 music lessons a fortnight. The units of work are: Music & The Moving Image, Classical music through the ages, Remix, Minimalism, Pop Music & Song Writing. We aim to prepare them for further studies of music through Listening, Performing and Composing
Please note at KS4 & KS5 not all courses run every year – timetabling is reliant on student interest.
